Spliff Personality

In this work, we see the Adarsh Balak figure, no longer the obedient, docile caricature of moralistic propaganda, but as conjoined twins, each head complicit in a shared act of rebellion. One head holds a joint, while the other lights it- a darkly humorous and subversive act that inverts the very notion of ‘ideal behavior’ that these figures once epitomized. The act is not just a casual defiance; it is a grotesque symbiosis, a mutually assured self-destruction that speaks to the duplicity and internal conflict inherent in any rigid, moralistic structure.

This sculpture is a physical manifestation of the contradiction between societal expectation and individual desire which underscores the inescapable interconnectedness of conformity and rebellion, innocence and corruption, producing a kind of duality that is as absurd as it is tragic.

With this piece,PriyeshT continues to be the enfant terrible of contemporary Indian art, wielding irony and dark humor like a scalpel to dissect the very fabric of cultural indoctrination narratives we've been fed and which have twisted and mutated with us.
